About wa design
Great places don’t happen by accident; they’re shaped by intention.
wa design was built for clients who want more than a standard landscape plan. We bring the discipline of traditional landscape architecture; research, understanding, and methodology; into every project, so the final result feels cohesive, timeless, and fully aligned with how people actually live, move, gather, and experience the land.
From intimate outdoor living spaces to resort destinations and golf course environments, our team’s 90+ years of collective experience spans the USA, Central America, Europe, and China. We collaborate seamlessly with developers, builders, homeowners, architects, engineers, and contractors; helping each project move forward with clarity, realistic expectations, and a plan that protects both design integrity and budget.
Founded by Branden Wilburn (B.S. Landscape Architecture, Purdue University; M.S. Golf Course Architecture, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh), the firm is grounded in a rare combination: design excellence paired with real construction and management experience. That means we design what can be built; and we lead the process in a way that keeps the vision intact.

Our commitment
Our design philosophy is rooted in innovation, sustainability, and a deep respect for the natural environment. Every project we undertake; whether a luxury resort, a golf course, or a master-planned community; is guided by a holistic and strategic approach that balances aesthetics, functionality, and long-term environmental responsibility. Sustainability is the cornerstone of our work, and we believe responsible design is essential to the long-term health and viability of our planet. Through thoughtful planning and proven sustainable practices, we create places that perform today while protecting what matters most for the future.
Eco-Friendly Materials & Construction
Prioritizing renewable, low-impact, and locally sourced materials.
Water Conservation & Smart Irrigation
Implementing smart irrigation, drought-resistant landscapes, native planting, and rainwater harvesting systems.
Biodiversity & Habitat Restoration
Designing landscapes that support local ecosystems and wildlife.
Resilient & Climate-Adaptive Landscapes
Creating landscapes that adapt to climate shifts.
Carbon Reduction & Energy Efficiency
Integrating renewable energy and sustainable building practices.
Through innovation and thoughtful planning, we create spaces that not only serve today’s needs but also preserve resources for future generations.
